The drug, manufactured by Canada's top-selling drug firm, CVS Health, was found to contain a prescription drug known as sildenafil, which is the same ingredient found in erectile dysfunction pills that was found in Viagra. CVS Health had the drugs in a pack of three blister packs that were split, according to Health Canada.
Doctors who spoke to the Star after a lab analysis of the drug found that the pills were "fat and contained sildenafil," or "sildenafil citrate," a compound used in treating erectile dysfunction.
"Sildenafil's safety profile is not very well established and is not supported by scientific data," Dr. Joseph Neumayer, a professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, said in a statement.
The findings come after a Canadian study that found the pills were in a group of men who had been prescribed sildenafil, which works by increasing blood flow to the penis when a man is sexually stimulated.
In one of the study's first results, researchers at Columbia University found that Viagra's active ingredient was found in the blister packs. Viagra is the generic version of Cialis, the brand-name version of the drug found in Levitra, the drug's brand-name counterpart.
The researchers examined the health of more than 1,000 men who had been taking the drugs for more than a year, and found that "they were able to achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for intercourse."

The researchers also found that the drug was effective in men with "at least one other serious adverse event," and that it was safe in those who took the drugs.
In addition, they said, the study also found that men who took sildenafil were more likely to be able to engage in sex. They also found that men who took the drug had a lower risk of developing heart attacks, which are heart conditions, and a higher risk of strokes, which are common among men.
The research also showed that men taking Viagra had lower rates of strokes and blood clots compared to those taking nitrates.
